Local Galleries, featuring Local Artists!

The Swantown Inn is a small Mom and Pop, family owned business. In this new series of blog posts we want to highlight other small businesses. Some we frequent often, some less so, but if there is a choice between a chain and a local option we almost always go for the local.

Olympia Art Galleries: Splash Gallery and Childhood’s End

Olympia, Washington is home to a vibrant arts scene, with a number of galleries showcasing the work of local and regional artists. Two of the most popular galleries in Olympia are Splash Gallery and Childhood’s End. These two are definately our personal favorites, but there are many other oppurtunities to purchase art and support local artists.

Splash Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that features a wide variety of artwork, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. The gallery is committed to showcasing the work of emerging and established artists, and it regularly rotates its displays. It is a cooperative gallery, artist run, so the people serving you will also be one of the featured artists. Splash Gallery is located on the Percival Landing Boardwalk at 501 Columbia St NW, Olympia, WA 98501. For more details check out their web site.

Childhood’s End Gallery

Childshood End Gallery

Childhood’s End Gallery is a fine art gallery that specializes in  fine art and craft. The gallery represents a diverse group of artists, and it is known for its high-quality selection of artwork. Childhood’s End Gallery is located at 222 4th Ave W, Olympia, WA 98501, located at the southern end of Percival Landing, featuring the beautiful wave mural. In addition to Splash Gallery and Childhood’s End, there are a number of other art galleries in Olympia, including:

  • The Artists’ Gallery, located at the Capital Mall.

  • Boom Gallery, located in Lacey.

  • Art House Designs, in downtown Olympia.
  • The Olympia Farmers Markets, has everything from pottery to photography.
  • Olympia Art League, has many artist members and you may find pop ups during various events such as Arts Walk.

  • InGenius! Local Artisan Gallery & Boutique, is located our in Yelm, which would be a great stop if you are headed to Mount Rainier, or doing the Bountiful Byway.
  • Some of the local antique shops have art as well, not always local artists, but art nonetheless!
