Nathan is an Australian who loves the similarities between the Pacific Northwest and his hometown of Melbourne. It has been a dream of his to own and operate a Bed and Breakfast ever since he first traveled to Europe in the early nineties.
As a keen sea kayaker and hiker, he has a love for the outdoors. With his local knowledge growing daily he is able to help you plan your day trips or point you to local attractions and restaurants.
If you like to research and map out the details he can help you find what you need on the Internet too. He has added a computer to the guest amenities and wireless access for those of you who like to bring along your laptop.
His mission is to make your stay memorable and comfortable.
He serves on the board of the Washington Bed and Breakfast Guild, the states professional body for innkeepers. He is currently the Director of Technology, and recently ended a four year term as President. This experience helps bring a professional aspect to a small family business.
Casey is a native of Washington, growing up her entire life in the shadow of the Mount Rainier. This is reflected in the amount of local knowledge she retains. She loves the diversity of the state and the amount of outdoor activities that are available because of that diversity.
Casey is also an avid sea kayaker and even spent a summer as a guide in the San Juan’s where she even learned more about the local area as well as the local fauna and flora. Casey also enjoys writing and photography and she finds there are numerous subjects to study for both in the Pacific Northwest.
She also has a passion for cooking, which is evident when you dine at her breakfast table. She shares Nathan’s mission of making your stay memorable, while constantly working on new menu’s for breakfast so you can rest assured every stay will be a new experience.
Nathan and Casey were married on May 14th 2006 in a small intimate ceremony with immediate family and friends at the Orcas Hotel on beautiful Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. Eventually we will post a photo or two here for the many interested past guests who wished us well. It really was the perfect wedding and exceeded our dreams and wishes.
One of the many reasons we decide to buy a Bed and Breakfast was so we could both be at home when we started a family.
Past guests have asked for updates on Casey’s pregnancy in 2007 when we were having twins. Well, Lauren Maxine Beryl Allan was born exactly a year after her brothers Charlie and Jackson were born. We think it was meant to be! We then added Evan Franklin Allan to the mix in July 2010, he is named after his brothers. Although we may be somewhat insane, we decided one more baby was needed in the family and we selcomed Sophie Olive Allan to the family in August of 2012.
For guests who worry about a crying baby, don’t! When we built our extension, we sound proofed the nursery. That does not mean that during the day you will not hear our children. They are learning to be respectful of our guests need for peace and quiet, however often guests ask and get to meet them during their stay. We even have plans underway to add a family friendly two bedroom suite to our Inn, which we think will add a missing element to the Bed and Breakfast.
