Olympia Hotels, why a Bed and Breakfast is better!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Olympia Hotels are what they are, nothing spectacular, friendly staff, generic hotel rooms. Hotels and motels meet a certain need, but for the more discerning traveler a bed and breakfast can offer all hotel does plus more!

Here is a list of various reasons why we think you will enjoy a stay at our bed and breakfast more than a hotel or motel.

  1. Our rates are comparable and sometimes cheaper than the hotels in Olympia. Especially during the summer.
  2. Just like a hotel we offer the government per diem Sunday to Thursday, Military Discounts (on stays of two or more nights), a discounts on stays of five or more nights in length.
  3. Unlike Olympia Hotels, we serve a three course gourmet breakfast each day of your stay. Beats a buffet any day!
  4. We have some of the most comfortable beds (all king size!) in Olympia. Don’t believe us though read the independent reviews on TripAdvisor or BedandBreakfast.com.
  5. We are as good if not better than any hotel concierge or front desk person when it comes to helping you make the most out of your time in Olympia and the area. We send you to the best restaurants, events, parks, and scenic drives. We pride ourselves on mailing sure you have the experience you were looking for.
  6. We have an on site Day Spa, The Attic Day Spa. No Olympia Hotel can claim that!
  7. Free cookies! Homemade chocolate chip cookies, lovingly made by Casey the Innkeeper.
  8. Your spending your money with a local business. We appreciate it so much! You support our local business and in turn we try and support other local businesses wherever possible too.

We are not saying we are perfect, we are not saying we are for everyone. Sometimes people like the anonymity of a hotel. We however think we are a better way to stay, and join the nationwide movement letting people know why a B&B stay is superior to a hotel or motel.

This great little video was done by the folks over at Everyday Olympia. They are right on target! Olympia is great and getting better all the time. Antiquing,  theaters, galleries, restaurants, cafes and shopping. We are all counting down the days to the reopening of the Farmers Market for the season! Watch the video and be inspired for a visit!

When you are done for the day, rest assured that you are staying in the best lodging Olympia has to offer!

Olympia featured in Sunset Magazine

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Olympia was featured in this month’s Sunset magazine as a great place in the Northwest for a day trip. The one page article highlighted shopping and dining. Unfortunately they skipped accommodations. No worries though as that is where we come in! We offer downtown Olympia’s best reviewed lodging.

Our little town has way too much to see and experience in one day. So take Sunset’s suggestions and add in some of ours and you can easily spend three or four days! From restaurants and cafes, live theater and film, to our diverse downtown shopping, Olympia is well known to locals, but still a hidden gem for those even an hour or two away.

Top of your stay with us with our new basic Swedish Massage, at The Attic Day Spa.

Visit Olympia

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

We often get Washingtonians that have lived in our great state for years, sometimes decades, but never visited Olympia. They write Olympia off as the State Capital with nothing but politicians. How wrong are they!

Olympia is like the Secret gem of the Puget Sound. It offers almost every imaginable type of restaurant, from the funky and casual to the gourmet and sophisticated. We have plenty of live theater which rivals the bigger productions of Seattle in quality. As for the Arts, it is well represented with quality galleries and events.

The culinary day-tripper should stock up at our farmers market, while soaking in the sights and sounds of the locals that frequent it. In our humble opinion it rivals Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

The outdoors types will enjoy our parks and gardens. Bike trails abound with the Chelais Western Trail being a highlight.

So Visit Olympia! If you like it stay overnight with us at the Inn.

Fall Arts Walk – an excuse for a weekend away?

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

This Friday is Fall Arts Walk here in Olympia. Over one hundred local businesses participate between the hours of 5pm and 10pm, displaying art to the masses. It is a great time to wander around Olympia’s downtown, take in the atmosphere and have a great meal at one of our restaurants.

At the Swantown Inn we are offering 10% off any two night stay which includes Friday and Saturday nights. Just mention when you call to book or in the notes section if you book online.
