Past Innkeepers

Doctor Edward and Lillian Peeples purchased the White House in 1997. Edward had recently retired from the University of Colorado where he was a Professor and Lillian had run a small two room Bed and Breakfast, called the Sterling Inn, out of their home.

They moved to Olympia to be closer to their family, and the White House was a prefect candidate for restoration as an Inn.

With their children’s help they added bathrooms, peeled layers of wallpaper and painted the house. Their daughter Stephanie created and applied the stencil detail to the rooms. They also created the large and bountiful vegetable gardens, where during the season a lot of the produce for the Inn is grown. Lillian also prided herself on the flowers she grew for display in the Inn. They furnished the Inn with finds from local Antique stores and markets.

In the year 2000 and within Historical Register guidelines they added on the Innkeepers Quarters. This additional space allows the Innkeepers to have their own space and also gives guests added privacy when wanted.

In early 2004 they put the Inn on the market, hoping to find new owners who would keep the house as an Inn and continue to passionately preserving it. They believe they have done so by passing the Inn on to Nathan and Casey, with who a new part of this wonderful home’s history will be written.
