Summer has had a few false starts in Olympia but overall we are experiencing nicer weather. Walking around our great little town you will start to see many different events. Hardly a weekend goes by without something entertaining or interesting happening.

We always have the great Farmers Market, followed by the live productions at Harlequin Productions, Capitol Playhouse and the Washington Performing Arts Center. Couple those with Lakefair, Sand in the City, Harbor Days and the smaller one day festivals and events, and Olympia is quite the place to be!

At the Swantown Inn we have limited availability, so make sur eyou plan and book your room soon. Or treat yourself to a Day Spa experience at the Attic Day Spa.

Greater Olympia Dixieland Jazz Festival

What a weekend for Jazz lovers!

From June 24 – June 27, 2010, at three venues, experience the best Jazz Festival in the Northwest! The main location is Saint Martin’s University Campus – Marcus Pavilion in Olympia Washington. However you will see musicians at other venues too, such as the Olympia Farmers Market.

The event features dance lessons (Balboa, Foxtrot, Charleston), great bands, and large dance floors (so you can really strut your stuff).

Finally over the last couple of days we have managed to get some beautiful weather. The temperature has been in the seventies and Olympians have emerged from their winter hibernation in force!

We still have some availability for the Fourth of July weekend. So why not visit Olympia and take in the sites, sample the food, and generally relax in our great little city.

Father’s Day & Olympic Air Show

Evergreen Graduation Weekend

We normally hold our Summer weekends for Wedding here at the Inn, however with Casey pregnant, we are not planning on doing many weddings. So we just released all the summer weekends we had on hold.

Book a Five Night stay and save 20%!

So book your summer vacation, visit family, or base yourself in wonderful Olympia for 5 or more nights and get 20% off your entire stay. That is the same as paying for four nights and getting one free! During high season to boot!

Why wouldn’t you stay in Olympia for that long? Here are some itinerary ideas for you;

Day One: Get in to town and just relax! Let us recommend a good place for a meal, and then just come back to the Inn and catch up on your sleep.
Day Two: Walk downtown, if the Farmers Market is on have lunch there. Tour the Capital, have lunch at the Fish Bowl Brew Pub, see a live show in the evening.
Day Three: Take a drive to the Ocean Beaches in the Olympic National Park. Alternatively drive down to Mt St Helens. Beautiful drives and we can recommend lunch spots even.
Day Four: So you walked too much the last couple of days right? Stay at the Inn, treat yourself to some Spa services. A couples massage? Then let us recommend a memorable restaurant.
Day Five: Stay relatively local, drive to Wolf Haven, the Monarch Scupulture Park, lunch at Lattin’s Cider Mill. Take in the beauty of the Nisqually Wildlife Refugee.

Of course every day you will get a great three course breakfast to get you going for the day.

Wedding night and Honeymoon bookings

Our Astoria room is extremely popular for wedding nights. It features a jacuzzi tub which makes it a must have for newlyweds. However here is a tip, book the room for at least a couple of nights, that way you actually get to enjoy it! Add the Honeymooners Haven package and get a couples massage the next day to unwind after your hectic day.

Brides may like to book the night before your wedding too, and get ready at the Inn after a gourmet breakfast.

The Olympia Farmers Market is Open!

We were overjoyed to see that the Olympia Farmers Market was open again this week. This means more local fresh produce for us and the Inn!

The market is a great place to spend a couple of hours. If you are planning a trip here keep in mind it is open Thursday through Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

It is the perfect place to grab some lunch before checking in at the Inn, or as one of the many things to do and see while you are here. Remember that the market is not just about the produce, their are great food vendors as well. Our favorite has to be the Mexican, Los Tulenos, where we almost always get Don Pepe’s burrito. Then we wander over and sit and listen to the live music while we devour the food! You will only need a light dinner after one of these.

The market has all of the following vendors;

Fruit and Vegetables
Art and Gifts
Meals and Snacks
Flowers and Plants
Meat and Fish
Chocolate!
Clothing

It even has the Master Gardeners’ garden adjoining it, giving you the opportunity on weekends to grill the locals on what grows best around here.

You can even follow the Farmers Market on Facebook, where they post daily updates on events and musicians.

Rent a room from the Swantown Inn B&B and go and see Rent at the Capital Playhouse. In our experience their shows are just as good quality (if not better) than the bigger theaters up north. Act now as the season is drawing to a close.

Spring Arts Walk 23rd and 24th April

We still have limited room for Arts walk weekend. Come on down Friday night (or Thursday if you can) and stay until Sunday to experience some of the best of Olympia’s art community. There is art absolutely all over the place downtown. the farmers market is back in to swing again. All round a great time to experience all of Olympia.

To top it all off you have the Procession of the Species. Now in its 16th year you cannot miss this!

Leave the car at the Inn and explore downtown at its’ finest.
